About - Júlia Latorre Barcala

Born and raised in Lleida, a small city near Barcelona. Since very young age I was deeply interested in all kinds of artistic representations: from cartoons on tv to theatrical games on recess. I grew up surrounded by all kind of graphic design related advise from my mother, which helped me develop a sense of taste and passion for trying to make better everything that gets to my hands.

In 2016 I graduated in Audiovisual Comunication degree at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, from where I rose connections with the cinema industry that are still growing nowadays. Afterwards, in 2018, a postdegree in Motion Design by BAU, Escola de Disseny, would give me solid design formation and introduced me to the world of motion graphics. Animation is one of my key passions so, later on, in 2022 I went back to school and atended the Acting in Animation 2D by Escola Joso, specialized in comic and illustration.

In summer 2023, my experimental animated shortfilm Cosmotrip, got selected in the showcase of two European festivals: Fest Ança in Slovakia and Mar Mostra in Portugal. Also in August 2024 I was selected as artist in residence by the Arts Itoya program in Takeo Onsen, a small village in Kyushu, Japan.

My working career goes through many areas, and I still feel the need of keeping it expanding. I have always personal projects on development that I hope one day can see the light.
